As one of the founders of Travel Food Couch, I find unparalleled joy in a variety of activities. From curling up with a good book, watching Disney movies, camping under the stars, and even washing dishes! I enjoy applying my phenomenal organization skills when stacking wet dishes on the drying mat in a manner akin to folders in filing cabinets and combining various silverware set upright into a glass measuring cup. I enjoy baking, and even being an expert food tester. I also have a knack for writing about our travel and food experiences.
My ideal travel escapade would involve exploring all 50 states, delving into the unique history of each one. The East Coast, with its incredibly rich past, holds a special place in my heart for historic travel. 🚙 🗺️
Growing up, some of my fondest family outing memories were made at Thousand Trails' Donner Summit campground, a mere 20 minutes from Lake Tahoe in California. I loved cruising around the campground on my bike, making essential candy runs to the general store 🍫, and spending hours in the lodge tackling puzzles, playing board games, and watching movies. 🏕️🌌
My most cherished cooking memory takes me back to baking with my mom. We'd whip up all sorts of delicious cookies, like gingerbread men and apricot thumbprints, to assemble into festive Christmas gift baskets for her real estate clients. 🍪🎁 She made me (and my three brothers) fun birthday cakes every year when I was growing up. One such cake was designed like the timeless classic nursery rhyme, “There Was an Old Woman Who Lived in a Shoe”.
And a quote that deeply resonates with me, from the incredible Maya Angelou: "People will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.“
